A.R.Rahman bagged six of the 17 awards at the inaugural Mirchi Music Awards announced in Mumbai on the 28th of March even as his films Jodhaa Akbar, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Ghajini swept the awards winning 12 of the 17 awards.

Rahman was declared a winner in the following categories -

Song of the Year - Jashn-e-Bahaara, Jodhaa Akbar (Hindi, 2009)
Album of the Year - Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (Hindi, 2009)
Music Director of the Year (Hindi, 2009)
Best Background Score - Jodhaa Akbar (Hindi, 2009)
Listeners' Choice Song of the Year - Kabhi Aditi, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (Hindi, 2009)
Listeners' Choice Album of the Year - Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (Hindi, 2009)
